Cinque Terre Day 1: Manarola
Hopped on a train down the Ligurian coast from the beautiful Camogli to my next stop: Cinque Terre. It was overcast when I arrived, but even the rain couldn't dampen the colors of vibrant Manarola. Spent the afternoon exploring the nooks and crannies of the town until the weather cleared off. Started a hike up to Volastra, but it was getting dark so will have to save that for another day!
I've had so much fritto misto on this trip!
Left: the train station, Manarola. Right: a shot of the grueling stair-climb out of Manarola that I'll be taking to hike to Vernazza/Corniglia/Volastra while the Via dell'Amore is closed
Definitely jealous of that tiny garden at the top of the town!
Left: a piece of the Via dell'Amore clinging to the cliffside, the walkway was closed due to landslides
Another shot of that cool garden on the top of Manarola
Here you can see the entire stairway from Manarola town center up the hill toward Volastra
Hiking up to Volastra!
First the path heads through the vineyards above the town, with some super-scenic power lines ;) Beautiful views regardless..!
Up and up and UP!
