Cinque Terre Day 2: Hike to Vernazza
Well, my legs were sure not prepared for the workout I got on my hike from Manarola to Vernazza today! It was only about 9km/5.5mi- but climbing those hills the whole way... Thankfully both Volastra and Corniglia provided great stops for rest and refreshments en route. I included the map of the hiking trails at the end of this post- I used the 6 & 7 trails since the Via dell'Amore is still closed. The plan was to go all the way to Monterosso and take the train back, but I was running out of daylight (and energy). Vernazza is an excellent spot to relax and have dinner on the water, watch the sunset and enjoy the evening. There are so many lovely cafes to choose from for apertivo...
so...many...stairs...Volastra here I come!
left: baby olives; right: an church in Volastra
The buildings of Volastra are so much older than the other villages. It's quiet here, not as much a tourist destinations as the towns on the water
More steps through the olive groves

Someone has a nice garden on the hilltop :)
Entering Corniglia
Looking back on Corniglia- next stop, Vernazza
